The book Pillars of the Earth is said to be modeled after the construction of this church made in the 1100s. It is an amazing building, even more beautiful inside with the beautiful "lantern" which brings light from outside into the central worship area and pulpit.
After viewing the incredible cathedral, we wandered in the village and spent some time in a small antique shop. We had arrived on a Bank Holiday here, so many of the shops were closed. Prices are very high.
We had to laugh when we found the equivalent of our Dollar Stores at home... here, they are called Pound World. It was a blast running up and down the aisles looking for the odds and ends that we had left at home. Scissors we found, but no glue or mechanical pencils.
