Road Trip Day Five~Home Again Home Again

We had such a great day today as we headed towards home. First, it was so awesome to have the sun out!

Our proof it was gorgeous and sunny...at least for most of the day.

We stopped in Oakland on the way home. What a sweet little vintage town! Our favorite stop was at Wonderful Things! We love their rustic outdoor decor and we found several things to add to our stash!

But the best part was meeting Jane Snyder. She owns the adjoining shop Plain Jane Originals Custom Sewing & Designs.

We loved seeing her shop and special handy work and original designs. If you need something unique and one of a kind designed...she's your gal! She was telling us about a special quilt she made using the actual footprints of a new baby. Darling!

One of our favorite things to do on road trips is to watch for photo ops. Karen is quite a photographer. She has all the super zoom lenses. (I know...your asking yourself why you have to suffer with my pathetic photography skills..) We loved this row of tractors all lined up in a row.

These new baby lambs were just too cute! I loved these two little black sheep. Oh my gosh they were so cute!

Our last stop was at our favorite Antique Mall Glory Days. What an inspiring place! I just had to sneak a quick pic of this gorgeous dress form. Wow...incredible!

We had such a great time together. I am truly blessed to spend time with such a dear friend, laughing, making memories and doing what we love.

Road Trip Day Four~You Win Some You Loose Some

We love a good Flea Market and today's was really fun! We love talking with the vendors and dickering just a little for a better price.  My favorite find was an old Soda Pop signs from a store! It will be perfect for The Farm Chicks Show. We'll post some pics latter after we unpack the van!

It was a good thing we did well at the flea market because the rest of the day was pretty much a bust! We found that some of our favorite stops had either changed or gone out of business...SAD! So this required ICE CREAM! A yummy Peanut Buster Parfait for Karen and a Peanut Butter Cup Blizzard for me!

Those of you who do allot of junking know that some thrift stores can be a bit....well....scary. We visited a couple of those today and felt like we needed protective gear or has mat suits.

We did find this very unique place today...it was a total mans cave including the decor! Key chains joined together created a chain that scalloped all the shelves all the way around the entire store. It was impressive!

After a long day in the car we were beat. We grabbed a hotel room, ordered a pizza and vegged with our magazines in front of the TV! This was the view of the Umqua River from our hotel room...gorgeous.

We are headed homeward tomorrow, but have many planned stops along the way....sound like another day of fun. Thanks for following our trip. See you tomorrow!
Hugs,
Eileen & Karen

Road Trip Day Three - On The Way From Here To There

Today was mostly a travel day for us...on the way from here to there. We didn't have much luck this morning so we decided to hit the road and head down to Southern Oregon. There is a Flea Market there we love to shop.

Driving down the Oregon Coast is really a treat in itself...but we decided to sweeten the deal with road trip CHOCOLATES! Can you say YUM!

There is a ton of water in Oregon so there are wonderful bridges around. We loved this old train bridge.

This one is on the Coast...I just can't remember where. You can see that the rain followed us down the coast...unfortunately!

The other standout of the day was funny signs. Seriously..we saw a ton of them today. Here's a few of our favorites.

We hoping we don't qualify for this one yet, but it's good to know it's available.
Every mother in America needs one of these!

These are all over the Oregon Coast...We use to never pay attention to them, but now it makes you think twice.

This one is actually from a couple of weeks ago, but we just had to include it! We just don't want to know why they needed to post a sign for this! Seriously!
See you tomorrow!

Road Trip Day Two - It's Raining It's Pouring!

What a wet....but wonderful day!  A quick Breakfast Burrito, a large Diet Coke and we were on our way! Karen and I really are in our element when we are junking. We love meeting new people and hearing their stories and seeing their passions. We have a few favorite stops that we try to hit first each year. One is Betty's house!

We met Betty last year and she showed us her wonderful vintage garden. You can see them here: http://forgetmenotdreams.blogspot.com/2010/04/too-much-fun.html  It was so fun to see her again and get acquainted with her Granddaughter Jackie! We love Betty's garage! She calls it her "Memory" garage. She has wonderful posters from places she's been and events she's attended.

We snapped a pic of this Route 66 sign which has special meaning to Betty this year! She and her sisters are going on a trip to follow Route 66 all the way by motor coach! Now that's a road trip! Have a great time and be safe Betty! Wish we were going with you!

We enjoyed meeting Bobbie this year and hearing about her wonderful gardens and handmade leaf bowls.

She invited us to peek in her back yard....Wow! It was so gorgeous with just the right touches of vintage and whimsy. Can you see her amazing leaf bowls on the table? She uses real leaves to cast these bowls. Amazing!

We loved these cute vintage ducks. Thanks Bobbie for sharing your gardening passion with us. What a truly special place.

After a day of junking we are soaked most of the way through and glad to be back in a warm hotel room! We are praying for better weather tomorrow...but you know us...we'll have fun no matter what!

Road Trip Day One

In spite of the literal down pour of rain, we made to the Coast today! And truly, no matter the weather the Oregon Coast is breath taking. It always feels so refreshing to be here. When I look at the enormous waves, it makes me feel small again and somehow all my silly life's challenges seem small and insignificant again. I love that!

We had a fun time winding our way down today. We stopped here and there along the way. Visited a few Thrift Stores that we had never been in before. That is always fun. We even found a few goodies!

Being here is inspiring too. There are many antique stores with wonderful displays. You gotta love that! We have an early morning tomorrow so we are off to bed! Major junking tomorrow! Woo Hoo!

A Special Mothers Day Gift

Drum Roll Please! All the stars and moons have aligned and we are excited to be featuring a new custom jewelry line created by Eileen's daughters of Jubilation Studios. We love their sweet work and hope you will too!
Of course they really got me by using photos of my grand kids and my own family members. I have to admit that instant tears came to my eyes when I say all my favorite people in their design examples. I think your Mom's and Grandma's would feel the same way about such a gift. Such tender emotions are attached to our families and those special memories. And they can make them into magnets too if you wish!

You'll also find a fun selection of their Graphic Tiles with popular icons. We love them! So stop by our New This Week category and check them out!

New This Week!

I really do have the best of intentions to blog more than once a week! I mean how pathetic is that! But lately I just can't seem to get on top of all there is to do! So I do promise to do better in the future...the near future!

This week we have been busy putting the finishing touches on the first of our 2011 Vintage Hankie Straw Totes. But this year we expanded the line to include a fun new design style! Woo Hoo for doing something new!

I've also had about 20 pillow sitting in my work room (OK, so it's really a bedroom, but isn't every room that doesn't house a live person considered a work room? I'm just saying!). Finally we added the embellishments and were able to get them photo'd and up for sale! We love rescuing vintage linens and making something new and wonderful with them. So stop by our New This Week category and see our new goodies! Have a great weekend!
