Weddings…Definitely One of My Favorite Things!

I’ve been so blessed this summer in my Wedding business. It’s truly a joy to be a Wedding Designer and work in tandem with my brides to make their perfect day a reality. I love their fresh ideas and use of colors. They don’t feel tied to the conservative traditions of yesterday, but free to maker their special day tailored to their own dreams.

The bright colors this bride chose were such a statement of her personality, such a sweet and sunny girl.
My Saturday wedding was both a décor and floral job. I love conceptualizing the event as a whole. Developing the atmosphere and flavor of the event. The colors were Ivory and Black with a classy elegant feel.

A grand entrance greeted guests and set the stage for a special evening. We did a 12ft by 32 ft backdrop with black drapes and echoed it behind the dessert buffet in an 8ft by 40 ft backdrop.

The rest of the ceiling and room was swaged with lights & tulle concluding in 12ft drops. I have to say, it was pretty stunning! My husband and I were invited to this wedding, so it was really fun to stand near the entrance and listen to the gasps and comments as people walked in the door. As a designer, I live for that!

As we were tearing down Saturday night, the Mother of the Bride asked me if I was happy how things had turned out? I answered her by asking, if she was happy with everything? Her reply was…“oh so happy”. Then, I exceeded my goal!

Runaway Day!

Last week my husband and I just up and ran away for the day! Both facing very busy and stressful day's ahead, we decided we needed to take a breath. We are so lucky to live about an hour from the beach.

The good old, "hold your camera at arms length and try not to cut your heads off technique". Not bad!

Haystack Rock at Cannon Beach is one of my favorite places to walk. The sunset was absolutely gorgeous!
Sometimes, you just need a day to recharge. This week when my life is crazy busy getting ready for the next wedding and trying to keep up with everything else, I'm remembering what an amazing day we had together, and that gets me through!

VINTAGE LINENS... WE LOVE 'EM!

Vintage linens! I love the old patterns, the feel of the heavy and sometimes nubby cotton and the memories of helping my Nana hang her linens on the old clothes line in her backyard. There still is nothing like the smell of freshly washed linens dried in the sun.

I wasn't fond of sewing with a machine until it became a necessity when I was newly married. But the minute my great aunty Laura put an embroidery hoop in my hands and gave me the rainbow of colors in threads, I was captivated. The tiny stitches had to be precise and just the perfect stitch type had to be chosen to make the final design complete. My favorites were the French knots and the lazy daisies. From the simplicity of the very first piece in childhood to the simple elegance of the new experience of ribbon embroidery, each stitch is a gift in time.

Join with Eileen and I in the love and appreciation of vintage linens!

Sharing

It's been an exciting and busy week for me, so I thought I'd pop in and share what I've been working on. Insane as it sounds, I actually have three businesses. I can't tell you how blessed I feel! Occasionally it hard to keep all the balls in the air, but most of the time they all dovetail together very nicely! One of my other businesses is called Bella Day Productions. We are in the process of setting up our new website, blog and newsletter, so one of these days there will be a big announcement letting everyone know we are up and running! Bella Day is a full scale Wedding and Event design and management company. We offer design and floral services, management, production, planning and marketing services. We have been very blessed with a very busy summer with many weddings and management opportunities. Here are a few pics of the two weddings we did this last weekend. Both turned out just gorgeous!

One of my management projects is helping co-chair the Make Mine Pink "Getting Down to Business" Retreat! I am so excited about helping with this projects. All the details on the retreat can be found below. If you own a business, or are thinking of starting one...or even need a fun inspirational break from the pace of life.....you owe it to yourself to come to this retreat! I have never met such an amazing bunch of ladies. I know this retreat will be worth every penny! I am so excited to hear the amazing speakers and enjoy meeting and networking with so many other women who are like me. Please consider joining me there! I would love to meet you too!
