Oh Baby...It's Pink Friday Again!

"Every Child Begins the World Again"~Henry David Thoreau

Why do we love babies? According to Jack Nitschke, a neuroscientist and assistant professor of psychiatry and psychology at UW-Madison,"There's one stimulus that's universally positive: baby faces. Just looking at them gets most people, particularly new moms, feeling all warm and happy."

Oh Baby....It's Pink Friday again! Why not take great care to welcome into the world someone who makes us so very happy with a wonderfully decorated space of his/her very own? Join us forhttp://www.makeminepink.com/pink-friday/, your exclusive invitation to “Shopping with a Twist," a one stop shopping for a fabulous look, on Friday, August 1, as we present "Nifty Nurseries"

Forget Me Not Dreams will be celebrating these sweet little ones by discounting our entire baby category! You find one of a kind patchwork bibs, beautiful felted nursery rhymes and Onsies with bling! See you on Friday!

Anyone Up For a Good Game of Tag and Tell?

I’ve been tagged by Erica of Meadow Street ! Be sure and check out her blog and wonderful website. Here is a pic of some of her fabulous handmade roses! YUM!
I have two weddings this week, so I'm trying to multi task here a bit and will use today's Show and Tell to...tell a little about me! Here are my 7 random things about me.

1- I love milk on ice cream. I know that's totally weird, but it makes little ice crystals...yum!

2-I have a rooster fetish...OK, had a rooster fetish! I have about 20 roosters in my kitchen/dining room. But I think I'm ready to move on....I haven't bought one in a long time!

3- I had never been to a beach or Disneyland until I got married. No wonder I'm still a kid at heart!

4-My favorite breakfast is peanut butter on bananas, unless it's Saturday and then it's a breakfast burrito from McDonald's. We had this little ritual every Saturday morning of taking our dog to McDonald's for a sausage patty. She will never let us forget that it's Saturday!
5-My daughters talked me into reading the Twilight series ( love, vampires and werewolves)...which I usually hate, and I am totally hooked and can't wait till August 2nd for the last one to hit the stands! One more week to go!

6- I drive a Kiwi green Honda Element! It's so fun!

7- I'm so boring I had to think about what to put for my last one overnight...Something I'm proud of is the work I've done in our church with the youth. For the past 20 years I have taught and counseled hundreds of youth ages 12 -18...what an incredible honor and blessing! But now my assignment has switched and I am teaching the 5 year olds....they keep me hoppin, but I love them too!

If you were tagged and want to play:
1. Link your tagger and list these rules on your blog.2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.4. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog. Have fun!

The Royal Treatment!

Wow, did I get the royal treatment or what! A few weeks ago I entered The Scented Cottage blog contest…and WON! My package arrived the other day from Francie so I wanted to show you how special it is! Take at look at her gorgeous presentation! Francie did a beautiful job. From the minute I opened the box open, it was a sensory experience with yummy eye candy to the sweet mellow fragrance. Take at look at her fabulous packaging and then the wonderful treasures inside. It was such a treat receiving her gift. She made my own sweet little cake! Isn’t it adorable! You can own one too…just visit her website!

Francie’s love for scents developed at an early age. I just love her story….”Growing up with a father in government service meant many moves and living in many different places. "Home" to us was our Aunties cottage in Louisiana. I had my own bedroom there and spent many happy times there in between Daddy's posts sometimes for a year at a time. Outside one window was a honeysuckle bush whose scent would waft over me and lull me to sleep. To this day the scent of honeysuckle takes me back to that time and place. Marrying a military man meant more moves and more places and different jobs...but the scent of honeysuckle could always take me home.”

The Scented Cottage is dedicated to bringing you the finest and sweetest treasures for your
home. We try to package them beautifully and with love and care. We use only the finest ingredients in our scented products so that we can bring you your own scent memories or help you make new ones for yourself, family and friends."
Thanks so much Francie! You can find all of Francies goodies at: www.thescentedcottage.com

Dr. Rob's Bakery

My new past time is baking, lots and lots of baking, in fact, I have become Dr. Rob's Bakery assisted by lots of friends and family. My youngest son's best friend Rob, is a medical resident, training to become a pediatrician. In April, he was informed that he would be going to Afghanistan to begin his repayment to the Navy for his medical training. He is now with the 2/7 Marines somewhere in Afghanistan until November.

Since this young man is like our third son, I knew I had to do something for him and the troops that he is caring for. Dr. Rob's Bakery was born on my son's birthday this year. Since then, we have sent out 26 boxes to the Marines with Dr. Rob, 66 dozen cookies, 10 loaves of banana bread and 10 big pans of brownies. Every week-end I bake as much as possible, my daughter-in-law & I collect other treats and necessities to add to each box and friends come to help pack and transport to the post office. 20 sponsors have signed up to send a box through Dr. Rob's bakery. I developed a little system so the sponsors will see the fruits of their generosity. When the box is shipped, the sponsor is told exactly what was in the box and when it was sent. When the package is received in Afghanistan, the sponsor is notified and Rob is also sent information on who sponsored the box. It has been an incredibly rewarding project. Each cookie is delivered with a gentle thought of peace and love and a prayer for safety, physically and emotionally. Eileen & I have chosen Dr. Rob's Bakery as our company charity this year. Our hearts are touched by those willing to sacrifice so much and we encourage any one to join us if your heart is moved.
Pink Friday was great fun last week, and we are looking forward to "The Cottage Porch" this week. Spend Friday with the shops at Make Mine Pink for a great selection of treasures. Forget Me Not Dreams will be featuring some fantastic finds at sale prices!

We Have A Winner

We have a winner! Karen of Sweet Necessi-Teas is the winner of our blog contest. To all of you who played our guessing game....thanks for playing! All of you who guessed Susan Branch were right and Karen was selected randomly from those names. Congratulation Karen!

Karen has a wonderful tea themed business and if you have never visited her site...what are you waiting for! You'll love it!

Combining her love of sewing and needlework with her passion for tea eventually led her to create a line of clothing, aprons, tea table items, and accessories for herself that she could not find in stores. When friends and even total strangers began asking for her sources, she began selling them at seasonal craft shows and a booth at a local antique and craft mall.

Karen says, "though often delayed, the dream of having my own shop never died. Victoria magazine, and later, Romantic Homes kept it alive, waiting for the season in my life when the dream could become a reality.

After 2 1/2 years, I gained enough confidence to take my business a step further and in 2006, opened my own website boutique, Sweet Necessi-Teas. My product line has gradually expanded from tea time clothing, aprons, tea cup and saucer totes, and linens to include tea sets and accoutrements.

My dream has become a reality.

In this fast paced world we live in, taking time to smell the roses or spending time with loved ones over a cup of tea is a respite that refreshes. My hope is that I can inspire you do just that!"

Thanks Karen for entering our blog contest! We'll be sending your goodies soon!
