Monday in Tucson

I am feeling guilty sitting here in the sun and 70 degree temperatures while the rest of the nation is freezing and iced in. This is part of my 2 month recuperation per doctor's orders, "lay in the sun for more Vitamin D and get to a dry place to heal your lungs". I'm here! I don't have to look too far back to remember coming here, protesting hugely against the forlorn landscape, void of the tall green trees that I love. Now it is a necessity to escape the damp and mold. Am I ashamed? ...Yes!

So, between napping half the day, I have been stitching and hope to work on my photos to list more on Etsy and our website. Eileen & I are having too many new ideas to put onto one site! We're trying though. A new adventure has also presented itself. We are working with a new nursery business in downtown Lake Oswego, building their indoor space into a little shop that we hope the neighborhood will enjoy. The owner has never done retail merchandising, just beautiful plants and flowers, so we are really excited about mixing the two and learning from each other. We'll keep you posted on how that progresses.

Our 50% off sale was a huge success, so we hope to do another soon! Thank you for your support and encouragement in so many ways! On to 2010!!

Making Way For The New

We're so happy to be back to business as usual in this wonderful new year. I love feeling that all things are possible. With the new year, we make resolutions, determined for a fresh new start. We clear out the old plans and start working on new...making way for all of the wonder a new year can bring. We are experiencing the same thing with our business. We love our planned events, and our merchandise is gorgeous - but it is time for us to straighten up the shelves a bit, look at everything with new eyes, and a fresh outlook. So this week, we are celebrating this PINK Friday with a special “Making Way for the New” shopping event. Don’t be fooled by our fabulous sales and low prices. It’s still our usual beautiful and unique merchandise! We just need it to go to a new home so that we can stock our shelves with new and even more exciting merchandise for the new year. Back To The Real World !!

We're back! The Holidays were wonderful, time spent with family, building memories. Eileen was able to babysit her new grandson traveling from Atlanta, a most precious gift. I actually had my first full day up in three months on Christmas Eve, feeling like a real person again. Life has taken on a new meaning and a new value. Each day is precious, each minute with my 3 in the growing Grothe crew is a blessing beyond description. Gift giving takes on a whole new perspective with a 2 and 5 year old participating! Lots of screaming and laughing. And my little 2 year old wanted to read the Christmas story from Luke all by herself.... after her daddy of course.

Today we started back to work, talking over our dreams for 2010, new projects, Farm Chicks, "Where are we going to put all this stuff?" and just enjoying each other's company after a long separation. No more of the Pig visiting this year, hopefully less weight and lots of new projects to share with you on our website.

I will be off to Tucson soon to "rest" my weary lungs for a bit and set up my crafting stations. All fun to be had!

Bragging Rights

I'm a new Grandma...so I just have to brag a bit about my little cutie!! Isn't he just the sweetest thing! This is one of my favorite pics! Being a Grandma is just the best thing ever. I can't wait for them to come at Christmas.

This picture just tugs at my heart and brings tears to me. Watching my own sweet daughter become a Mommy...what could be more special than that. I'm so proud of you babe!

Mothering Charms

It's All About Christmas

So many of us passionately love the Christmas Holidays. The decor and family gatherings are my favorite and for me go hand in hand. I love creating a special atmosphere for my family to gather in.
