Helping Japan

I'm re posting my daughters blog today...I just can't say it any better than she did. I hope we can all find some small way to make a difference for these humble people who have been so devastated. I'm so proud of my daughters for using their talents to do what they can to help. "Out of small thing proceedeth that which is great".

Heidi's Blog Post:
Since the awful events that happened in Japan, I can't seem to un-glue myself from all the first hand viral videos of the tsunami, viewing how quickly the water rushed in the town, destroying lives. I don't know anyone in Japan, but I do have a friend who's family directly lives in Sendai, where the earthquake hit the hardest. Luckily her family is safe, but what about all the other people? This friend put it best on her own blog when she said,

" I have been so touched by all of the reports by American journalists who have expressed their astonishment at how peaceful the people are considering what they are going through. They line up in an orderly fashion to get any sort of aid and are so grateful. They help each other. There is absolutely not looting. There is such a sense of community and compassion among victims. I love these people. I am so grateful to be a part of such a beautiful culture, and I pray that they will be relieved soon. Please pray for Japan."

I agree whole heartedly, especially about the no looting. That would not happen in America. So what can we do?

If you haven't seen, my sister and I have a little online business where we sell custom made pendants for necklaces. My sister made a special "Hope" for Japan pendant that we are selling and donating 100% of the proceeds to help Japan and it's people.

If you are interesting in helping Japan and not sure how, this is a great way plus you will get your own pendant to show your support.Tell your friends and family, and lets try and help Japan as much as we can.

Spring Break Getaway With The Boys

My son was home from Collage this week so we decided to run away to the Coast for a couple of days. And in spite of the wind and rainy weather we had a fun time so I thought I'd share a few pics from our trip. I snapped this pic on our way down to Lincoln City. It's not everyday that you see a plane this size or any size for that matter on top of a building. This is next to the Air Museum in McMinville OR and I understand they are building a water park where the tallest slide with start from inside the plane. Pretty cool!

Like I said this trip was with the boys so we went to movies, and spent a fair amount of time in the arcades!

But they were good sports and let me have my fun too and we visited some fun shops and did a bit of junking. I loved this display in Tiptons in Seaside...what a great store and nice owner!

This is a window display at Vintage Hardware in Astoria. I was so excited to go in this store and sadly they were closed the day we were there. Big Bummer!

The bridge in Astoria that crossed the mouth of the Columbia River and connects to Washington is just cool! We had to drive it just because!

We had a great time, and I sure love my boys!

Inspiring Place

Sometimes you just need a break...an way to refill the glass and reboot the inspiration. Karen and I took just such a break yesterday! We've been wanting to pop in the Monticello Antique Mall here in town and just never seem to get there! We had such a fun time wandering from booth to booth and especially found the Garden Section in the back inspiring! It was amazing! We have allot of friends who have booths here too so that was fun to see their displays. Hmmm, maybe it's time to get on their vendor waiting list! What a wonderful place!

My Daughter's New Business

Just have to brag a bit...my daughters Stephanie & Heidi just opened an Esty Shop! They make the coolest tile jewelry. I just love it so I thought I'd share. We'll be carrying it on our website soon too and I'm super excited about that. I love how they add the details and graphics to your own special photos. Check them out at Jubilation Studios.
